As you’ve probably heard, actress Betty White passed away recently at age 99. There are many things to admire about her, including her ability to make us laugh. One remarkable quality was her enduring love for all animals.
Like many online movements, it’s hard to track the origin of this one – the #BettyWhiteChallenge . However, it has been suggested that to honor Betty White, people should be encouraged to donate $5 or more to a local animal rescue or shelter on the day that would have been her 100th birthday – Monday, January 17. We at Kitty Corner think that’s a marvelous idea!
Please, don’t get us wrong – while our kitties could benefit from your generosity, we are not asking for a donation. We encourage you to look at as many needy local animal charities as possible, and make your choice from among them. We just ask that, wherever you choose to donate, that you make the contribution in Betty’s name.
If you DO choose to honor us, please pass along our link to your friends, your family – anyone who might be interested in making a difference by helping us rescue and re-home cats in CNY. We appreciate how generous you are with your cash, your donations, and your thoughts throughout the year!
