Early Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in a building near NYC. It did significant damage to part of the building. As part of the firefighting efforts, power was turned off to several buildings.
One of those buildings houses the computers that run our website and email. Because of structural damage, the fire marshal kept the power off until it was repaired. Only after the power came back on could the computers be re-booted, and our website (as well as several thousand others) come back online.
Our website is backed up every night, so we wouldn’t have lost anything, but it was a tense 56 hours of downtime for us.
